Juvenile at Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens, Thailand
Gastrococos crispa comes from Cuba where it grows in limy clay soil. Its very strange is trunk covered with spines when young. It can reach a height of 30 to 40 feet, but growth is slow. This palm prefers hot conditions.
